Introducing Member Romeo

 Romeo is my Pembroke Welsh Corgi.He is 4years old,and his 

kennel name is Brochinebelle Sir Lucan.

He was born in Scotland on 27-5-11. I picked the name Romeo as i'm a fan of the programme Home and Away, Romeo was one of my favourite characters.

He couldn't have been better named, as he's a very affectionate dog. He loves kisses and cuddles, and will not go downstairs in the morning till he is lifted onto my bed,where he cries,wriggles,and whines while i massage him all over.

We used to do this when he was tiny,and he loves it.

He is great with other dogs and loves children.When we go walking the local children always follow, and he gets called teddy bear, and pop star.I bought myself a recliner chair,which Romeo thinks is now his.When he wakes up from a nap he will woof twice! This is him wanting lifted down,and yes we do it.We love him so much he is a total pleasure to have around.

Removing the smell of Fox poop

We had a topic on our Facebook group over the weekend after a members dog rolled in fox poop :-(

Here are a few suggestions from our FB Group on  how to remove the smell.

Suggestion 1 - tomato ketchup

You should have applied tomato ketchup before bathing with shampoo, removes the smell easily - they go a bit pink but it comes up ok after the shampoo, Use Enough ketchup to cover the poo area then leave for about 10 minutes.

Suggestion 2 -  which is also used for De- skunking

Step 1: Keep Fido outside

While you prepare the de-skunking solution, keep your dog outside after he's sprayed so he doesn't carry the smell into your house. Check his eyes; if they're irritated or red, immediately flush them with cool water.

Step 2: Mix the Ingredients

Mix together:

1 quart of 3-percent hydrogen peroxide (available at your local pharmacy) 

1/4 cup baking soda 

1 teaspoon liquid dishwashing soap

Wearing rubber gloves, wash your dog with this solution immediately after he's been sprayed. DO NOT get the solution in the dog's eyes. (If you don't have peroxide, baking soda, and liquid soap on hand, use vinegar diluted with water.) 

Caution: Do NOT save this mixture or make it ahead of time, as the mixture could explode if left in a bottle.

Step 3: Clean and rinse

Rub the mixture through his fur, but don't leave it on him too long (peroxide can bleach his fur). Rinse him thoroughly.

Step 4: Shampoo

Next, wash your dog with pet shampoo and rinse thoroughly. By now, he should be de-skunked and smelling sweet. Thoroughly towel-dry your dog, and be sure to place him in a warm, sunny room for the next couple of hours so that he doesn't get chilled. He should also have a large dry towel on which to lie down. If you dog has long fur, you may need to use a hair dryer to dry his fur.

Owner cleanup 

If your dog rubbed some of the stink onto you, you can rid your clothes of the smell by using regular laundry detergent mixed with a half-cup of baking soda.

Cardigan corgi who was born in Ceredigion in Cardiganshire 'west Wales' October 11 2012

Live in South Wales (Barry island) and love playing on the beach and having a dip in the sea and playing with my tennis ball

 Bow is a Red Brindle white masked Cardigan Welsh corgi

Today we received a very sad message from one of our members  Margo Hackney.

Earlier today She had to say a very hard goodbye to CH/Fin CH Yardican Diamond Drop (maggie). Margo we all send you hugs and prayers at this very difficult time.
